Paralegal – Business Law – Ann Arbor Office

Performs a variety of duties to assist attorneys in the Business Practice Group. Maintains positive contact with clients and observes confidentiality of client matters. Organizes and maintains corporate documents, files, and other documents. Drafts routine documents including Michigan and Delaware corporate formation documents. Performs UCC searches, analyzes and prepares summaries. Obtains, drafts and organizes corporate documents as required for closings. Performs assigned legal research tasks using all available resources, including libraries and computer data systems. Contacts and works with applicable state regulators on filings or to follow up on attorney work. Completes federal and state securities filings.
Requirements: Knowledge of legal principles and practices at a level normally acquired through formal corporate paralegal training or its equivalent. Works competently in a fast paced environment with client contact. Bachelor’s degree in relate subject matter (i.e. business, political science, legal administration). 3-5 years on the job experience in order to gain expertise needed to do substantive legal support work. Ability to organize and prioritize numerous tasks and complete them under time constraints. Ability to proofread typed material for contextual, grammatical, typographical or spelling errors. Interpersonal skills necessary in order to communicate in person, by e-mail and telephone. Follow instructions effectively from a diverse group of clients, attorneys and staff and provides information with courtesy and tact. Experience utilizing Microsoft Office software products.
